Sorry, for the huge necro, but I think it's still relevant.

Could you go into detail about what makes the DH suppression so great?

Hi, I'm Weiss from the FJR2. Thanks for the necro actually, we just came back into relevancy recently and are now doing some things with ARMA 3.

The reason why we always favored suppression in DH was because of the necessity of the MG in FJR tactics.

Darkest Hour does well at putting the game element of suppression and the fear element in at the same time. The crack of bullets whizzing by or hitting cover near you puts fear in, but the game also has a mechanic to break your aim and unnerve your character.

I haven't found a game yet to portray suppression as a single-instance thing. Each bullet in DH generally does the same amount of suppression so more firepower = more suppression. I actually thinkt they took a step back in RO2 by making there be a "suppression gauge" which basically just went up expontentially. In DH, if you don't retain suppression, you don't gain out of it.

TL;DR The suppression in DH does well at being a game mechanic and a player-fear mechanic and worked very well with the Fallschirmjäger doctrine.

    Howdy,

Stumbled upon this forum and thread when I was attempting to do some research on an old German bayonet I have.

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this:
